ר׳ אשר זליג וייס
ר׳ אשר זליג וייס (born 25 March 1953) is an American-born Israeli posek, dayan and rosh yeshivah, widely known from his מנחת אשר series. Raised in a Klausenburger Hasidic family in Borough Park, he immigrated with his family to Israel in 1966 and settled in Kiryat Sanz, Netanya. There he became a close student of ר׳ יקותיאל יהודה הלברשטאם. He later led institutions serving several sectors of the Torah world, including Keter Yisrael and Machane Avraham, and in 2005 established the Darchei Torah beit midrash. Based in Jerusalem, he heads Beit Din Tzedek Darchei Hora’ah, leads kollelim and the Machon Minchas Asher publishing programme, and serves the Tchechnov community in Ramot. He is also consulted as a halakhic authority by Shaare Zedek Medical Center. His responsa address medical ethics, electricity and technology, public danger, war, epidemics and other contemporary questions alongside classical ritual and civil law. His method combines broad source command with conceptual Talmudic analysis and practical adjudication, and his lectures circulate across Haredi, religious-Zionist and international communities.
